WIRES Food Fund for Wildlife

Over $280,000 a year is needed for wildlife food

The cost of food for animals in care, is one the many significant costs involved in running a rescue and care service for wildlife.

WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) has grown into Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation over the last 35 years. In the last financial year WIRES spent $287,620 on food for wildlife. Many of WIRES dedicated volunteer carers spend more of their own funds on food as well.

Our Annual Food Fund for Wildlife campaign began in 2014 to raise additional funds to cover the cost of food for wildlife in care. To date the Food Fund has raised over $83,196 for wildlife food. Our vision for our annual Food Fund is to raise enough funds each year to cover 100% of our annual food costs for all wildlife in care, across all branches and all species.

100% of all Food Funds help feed wildlife in care

The Food Fund runs for the month of October, with the annual total for the year confirmed in November.

You can donate to the Food Fund at any time during the year, all Food Fund donations will be used to buy wildlife food and the donations received after October will go towards the next year's total raised.
Funds received during the year will be used on food as they are received.

WIRES rely on community donations for over 95% of our funding. Without ongoing, generous community support our services that help tens of thousands of native animals each year would not exist.

Please support WIRES Food Fund and donate today.
